how to choose your perfect tattoo

If you are thinking of getting a new tattoo, you must realise it is permanent! It will be on you for the rest of your life.Removal of tattoos is expensive,time-consuming and painful. If you have any doubts, don't do it until you are 100% sure, and never get a tattoo because it is fashionable.

You must be 18 or over to get a tattoo, and will need to bring some form of I.D. to prove this.

Once you have finally decided to get your first tattoo, then you need to decide what it will be.There is such a wide variety of images to get ideas from including the 'flash' on studio walls, tattoo magazines, your own artwork, the internet,books,films,fabrics,paintings,etc...You could choose something from our walls or you can bring your own design in so we can advise you on the best way to approach the chosen tattoo,to make it unique to you.Sometimes it is not enough to choose a design which just 'looks nice',but to choose something that has significant meanings to you.

Size does matter! How big or small your design will be,and where will it go.It should suit you and your build, and work with your body.Do you want to be able to show it at all times,or will there be occasions that you would like to keep it covered? Is it just for your pleasure,or will you share it with other people? Will having a tattoo affect your job?

If you do decide to choose Eternal Tattoos to create your masterpiece, you will be pleased to hear that we are registered with The Department of Health & Safety, and we are inspected regularly. We display our certificates on our walls. Also check out the rest of our website to have a look at each individuals portfolios(any tattooist can buy 'flash',so always have a look at their photos before deciding whether to get them to do the work),or visit the shop in person to see more work.

Tattoos come in various shapes and sizes,so the prices will vary too.If you want a quote on a design, send us a copy,or e-mail it to us and we will reply asap.We have set prices for 'flash' work, and we have an hourly rate for custom work.Tattoos work out to be exellent value for money considering how long they last!

Do tattoos hurt?!Everyone experiences a different feeling, ranging from a burning or tingling sensation,to a slightly uncomfortable and scratchy sensation,to a wincing feeling,to just being bored and not feeling much at all!Different places on your body will be better than others, but don't be put off by what you imagine it's going to feel like.Have your tattoo where you want it to go,don't move it because you think it may hurt!Tattoos can also bleed slightly, during and afterwards. This is perfectly normal. If you do find having your tattoo painful, then usually it is down to being too tense.Idealy,it's best to come to the studio as relaxed as possible, and to have eaten something before hand.If you don't eat, then get nervous, then it will possibly make it harder for you to get your tattoo done or even make you dizzy.Tattoos and alcohol or drugs do not mix.It can make the feeling worse, and you can also bleed more(even if it's from the night before.)If you are taking any prescrition drugs or have any medical conditions, then let us know before hand(we do get you to fill in a form before we start).Sometimes we will advise you to go to your doctors to ask them if it is ok to have a tattoo.

Wear suitable clothes.Do you want to be sitting there in your bra? Also, don't wear your best clothes,if any ink splashes onto you,the stain doesn't always come out in the wash!

We can only have the person who is to be tattooed through to the working area,so if you do bring along a friend, then they won't be able to sit with you.We do allow children into the studio, but again not into the working area,so bring someone else along who can amuse them or take them for a walk if they start to get noisy or restless.Realisticaly,it is best to leave children at home or with a friend.

Switch off your mobiles!Theres nothing quite like concentrating on a piece of work that will last you the rest of your life to be interupted by someone phone ringing!

We will go over your aftercare with you before you leave. This is vital information to listen to.We will have done our best work to give you the best tattoo we can,so it is down to you after you leave the studio,to look after your new tattoo as best you can.Looking after your tattoo correctly will mean that it will heal faster and look better.
